When you buy any phone from Best Buy, you’re actually purchasing it through your phone plan. The phone comes with its own SIM card. I have Verizon also. First, I backed up old phone through iTunes. When I purchased this new one (online), Best Buy ran it thru Verizon so my number carried over to the new one etc. It’s considered an upgrade. All I had to do was put the new SIM card that came with it into the phone. Follow the instructions on the phone to activate the SIM card (can call Verizon customer service if you need help), then go to iTunes and “restore” from backup and everything from your old phone will now be on the new one. Very easy. The cost of the new phone will now appear on the regular monthly Verizon bill.
