If you pay for the phone over the course of 24 months, at the monthly price of $16.63 a month, then the total you are paying over the course of the two years is $399, because Verizon gives you a discount off of the retail price if you agree to the monthly lease to own program with them. If you buy the phone outright, up front, then you will pay the full retail price of $449.99.
