I asked an Apple employee about an unlocked iPhone X. He said as of right now there are no unlocked x’s.

If you own it you can do whatever you want. just do some research and ask the right questions with the resources available to you ie.. apple, best buy, etc... carriers probably will give you the idk which is smart business so don't get mad at them.
