1.) AT&T international calling plan sales will have an exact answer. 2.) I’ve heard something similar, and it’s basically imposed by the foreign countries that naturally want their residents to use their services & vice versa. I’m not sure, but I believe you are allowed to bring your phone to use while on “holiday” for up to six months. Either way, you’d have to be a fool or a multi-millionaire to travel without first getting the CORRECT/BEST international calling AND DATA plan before heading out! They will answer your questions even before you buy the plan based on your usage. Usage rates are incredibly lower than they were just a few years ago. I learned the hard way about 10 years ago, and have kept up with the changes as the years go by! - Damian
