If the 32gb iPod is only holding 18gb worth of music, you may need to delete some unused applications or games to gain more space. You can view what is being stored on the iPod and determine what to get rid of if necessary.

The new ipods have apps and Video it uses. Most likely that person that mentioned that they only have 16 Gb of music needs to clean their Ipod of useless stuff or buy a bigger ipod.
