Hi - I upgraded a late 2012 model and did not have any issues with photos. If you are using the apple photo app I think you should be good

Please try again later.Photos, yes with the Photos app. Old ms word/ pages/ excel documents back to 1995 yes with Pages and Number app. Music, movies, yes; Using Quick time and Music apps. PDF docs back to 1993, yes, using preview app. *Now apps and their specific docs that became abandon-ware or depreciated on 32bit OSX such as WordPerfect, or ClarisWorks docs, real media etc. if you have any of these types, they’ll need to be converted to less obscure formats for use on El Capitan or a new Mac for that matter. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.You will have to migrate many files manually. I still have the hard drive I used for my old mac Time Machine so I was able to pull the files over. New drive format is not compatible with our older format so many apps/software will not work. had to buy a new version of MS Office (not 365). Paid a one time fee for current version with no updates from Newegg. It's all time! Hope you have some!!
