How do you add programs? I don't see any CD drives. null

You can use any cheap DVD drive that plugs into a USB port. I have an Apple drive that I bought at the same time as my now-ancient Mac Mini In 2013.

I have a Samsung DVD Writer that is Windows and Mac compatible. I purchased a 4 port USB adapter to attach it and other devices to my Mac mini. It works great.

Digital download from Mac App store or the open web. You can purchase a CD drive dirt cheap. However everything is digital mostly that is available on CD unless you own current software on CD you must have. Developers would rather you download. No cost of disc shipping etc.
