The Touch ID is just a small fingertip size panel that you can use with your fingerprint to unlock the computer or may Apple Pay purchases, similar to the iPhone. The Touchbar is a long, thin touch control panel that works like control keys for the keyboard and can do many functions. The MacBook Air only has the TouchID, the MacBook Pro has both I believe.
