I have no idea, but I do love the color! I didn't know if I would like it but I do. I have never scratched my other Macs nor have I scratched this one, nor have I ever scratched any of my iPhones or iPads to test the color underneath. I think they are well made.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The metal underneath is not the same midnight color as the laptop so scratches and nicks would be more apparent. The metal underneath is actually the base silver. However with a proper protective sleeve and overall care, wear would be minimal.
