I think it will be a good computer for her. No PCs please.

Please try again later.Some of that will depend on the software she will be using (i.e., is any of the software Windows only), but generally speaking a MacBook Pro would be a good choice. You probably should get one with 16GB of RAM (rather than the standard 8) and at a 500 TB drive. That will give her room to grow. If this is for college, check with her school to see that they recommend and be sure to take advantage of any educational discounts they offer. That will take some of the bite out of the cost of a new Mac.
