I dowloaded the trial of final cut pro and it did slow my laptop a little bit. iMovie is great though.

You can run the Final Cur Pro X easily and work for many hours without any problem, I am personally using it for software development and run many heavy applications on it. Mac book pro 2018 handles it very smooth.
