No, the magnets are edge magnets and only hold in the landscape orientation.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No, I bought the IPad 12.9 and the magic keyboard. While there are parts of the keyboard I like - ease of typing etc. It drives me bananas that I can’t use it in a vertical mode, nor is there a groove in the base of the keyboard to hold it vertically. It’s a major flaw in my opinion. Not all apps work in landscape mode, though perhaps they should. They keyboard also requires a solid surface. If you’re using it on your bed, for ex., to watch something, the keyboard falls over backwards because the iPad is significantly heavier and the weight is disproportionate. If I had it to do over again, I don’t know know if I’d buy this one. Sure the magnets are great, but I think there are cheaper options out there, personally.
