A: I agree. I don’t’ think this can fold into a lay flat mode or tablet style while attached to the keyboard. This is a bummer for me as a digital artist. I don’t want to take it off and switch cases or lay it on a hard surface all bare back! For me, I think I am sticking with the folio and buying the standalone magic keyboard since I do more media consumption/art rather than office/business work. Good luck! Cheers.

A: It is connected through smart connector. The magic keyboard does not have Bluetooth or battery. Once you put the iPad on the keyboard, it is ready to go.

Q: Will this work with the 2021 12.9 model?

A: Yes, the 12.9 iPad Pro 4th Generation keyboard will work with the 5th generation iPad Pro. Keep in mind the 5th gen pro is slightly thicker than the 4th gen pro and the result is that the keyboard doesn’t close exactly flush. I have attached photos of my 5th gen ipad pro in the 4th gen case and 5th gen case.

The gap between Macbook and tablet has been closed
As i shopped for the perfect case and between the time Apple announced this keyboard, the release for this accessory couldn’t have come sooner. Granted this keyboard is overpriced but at the end of the day you get what you pay for, trackpad functions with the famous macbook keyboards, you could type on this all day without your fingers getting tired because the kickback is not as strong as a Full sized keyboard. The packaging and the user guides are bare, but this case and keyboard is packed with hidden content that will require you to dig deep and learn what this can do, iOs 13 has a ton of hidden features such as the ability to change keyboard shortcuts and the ability to change trackpad color, speed, animation and settings. Learning the trackpad gestures takes some getting used but you learn at the end of the day WHY they took out the ESC key, you don’t really need it. The biggest thing for me was learning the exclusive iOS Ipad keyboard shortcuts and for all here’s a guide that should help! https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT211096 The keyboard feedback is trademark apple macbook, you can control the brightness via the settings or let it do it’s natural work, by default the backlight will turn off if left unused for a couple of minutes and will turn back on once you star using it, the trackpad can be used just as a macbook but with the iPad gestures. Honestly it should come natural if you know how to use the iPad swipe features. The case is heavy for all the right reasons, i’ve gotten used to it already, the iPad won’t fall off it’s magnet unless it’s done purposely, i’ve grown fond of the material(rubberized plastic) that covers the outside i.e the material that scratches easy, gets smeared or dirty easily, this is the kind of material that doesn’t damage the screen when closed up and i’m all up for it since it was my biggest worry. Another caveat a lot of people might not know, if you have Applecare +, this device is covered under it since it’s an official Apple product, should any problems arise just start a claim under your ipad and Apple will take care of it. My biggest fear is that Apple will keep churning out more magic keyboard with trackpad variants sooner, maybe even with touch id, heck i like this one, but for what’s it worth, this is sexier than any macbook since i use my ipads as entertainment hubs more than anything anyways plus once you add up the price of an ipad and this keyboard you already went over the price of an entry level macbook air so you got choices! The biggest advantage is the celular model of course and wifi6 on the new ipad pro 2020 PS After weeks of shopping around props to best buy, I was ready to buy this through Apple but they have a 3-4 week delay, Target doesn’t even have them in stock, Amazon hasn’t even released them, Best Buy is the only one that has them ready to ship, in this crazy hard times major props for delivering and over exceeding all expectations!!

Makes your iPad like a MacBook.
Love it. Love the intuitive backlight on the keyboard, the scissor keys, the feel and extra usb c it gives you. Makes your iPad like a laptop. The mouse pad is awesome and you can do all the same things on it like a MacBook. It is heavy. Weighs as much as the iPad itself but it is great. I don’t like that you can’t have a case on the iPad for when you remove it from the keyboard like the previous model. I really liked that but it is still nice that it protects the entire iPad. Does pick up oils from your fingers though. So you have to wipe it or it starts looking dirty. Even though it costs as much as a cheap iPad (well more lol) it’s still worth it.

A New Perspective...
Magic Keyboard + iPad Pro, wow where do I begin...this accessory brought new ways to the iPad experience that I never could imagine. Firstly, the packaging it came in, as with all Apple Products you get attention to detail on the packaging, as well as when you crack into the box after pulling the handy pull tab that is on the corner. The only thing you’ll find in the box is some paperwork, plastic, and your keyboard itself, so don’t be looking around for any cables or anything. Once out you can connect the iPad to the magic keyboard, which is just a couple of strong magnets on the back of the Magic Keyboard and Integrated into the iPad itself, so it gives itself a secure grip once connected into place, so do not worry your iPad will not fall out of the case once its in, but if you wish to take it off do not worry either as with a nice tug your iPad will be set free for you can enjoy tablet mode once again. Unlike other keyboards, this one is a direct connection with the iPad itself, and of course since it is made by Apple you get the full intentions of what Apple wished the iPad to be, like a computer....well sort of. The keyboard does add a little bit of weight on the iPad itself, so be prepared for that, but I did not notice a drastic increase as I am used to using a MacBook Pro. The keyboard itself is backlit, so working at night is a breeze, and the actual keys itself are pretty clicky and super responsive. Also embedded in the keyboard is some shortcut keys, if you are used to MacOS they kind of follow to an extent in iPadOS. (Speaking of the keyboard, if you don’t wish to have the backlight on in the day time, simply go to settings-general-keyboard-hardware keyboard then simply change the brightness to your desired level.) The trackpad, however is a different, but very useful experience for the iPad. It brings a new light to it, and makes it really comparable to a modern laptop, or even a lower model MacBook. The trackpad is responsive as well, and allows you to click anywhere on the screen. Also on the keyboard itself, there is an additional USB-C port, which allows you to do pass through charging on the iPad to leave the main USB-C port on your iPad freed up for anything you wish to use it for. My only downside of the keyboard is that it doesn’t protect the sides of the iPad, so i suggest getting a tablet sleeve, or even a laptop sleeve that’ll fit it if you plan on carrying it around places that might ding the sides. Other than that, if you get Apple Care Plus for your iPad (which i highly recommend) it will also cover the Magic Keyboard that you buy for the length of your protection on your ipad! (Each subject to a 29 dollar service fee for the keyboard itself of course) Some people may think the price is too high for what it is, yes its a 350 dollar keyboard, but its more than a keyboard its an amazing accessory for your iPad especially if you use it on the daily. Plus with price being mentioned, you can always apply for the credit card that BestBuy offers, and if you get approved you can finance this keyboard interest free for either 12 months or 6 months which is amazing I think, I chose the 12 month financing! Anyway, I love this keyboard...and I think any other iPad Pro user will to!
