“I only need the power cord part of this unit for my 2015 Macbook pro Retina. I already have the charger. would this cord be compatible with the 2015 Retina? I looked it up and 85 watts is recommended if replacing the entire unit for the 2015 retina.”

The 60w is the minimum needed to charge my 2012 MacBook Pro. But with a 2015 MacBook Pro, the end of the cord connected to the laptop changed and the 85w MagSafe 2 is the minimum required to charge the newer models.
