“I only need the power cord part of this unit for my 2015 Macbook pro Retina. I already have the charger. would this cord be compatible with the 2015 Retina? I looked it up and 85 watts is recommended if replacing the entire unit for the 2015 retina.”

• The 60w is the minimum needed to charge my 2012 MacBook Pro. But with a 2015 MacBook Pro, the end of the cord connected to the laptop changed and the 85w MagSafe 2 is the minimum required to charge the newer models.
