• No, it is not, unless your TV Monitor has a VGA input on it. For HMDI input to TV, you'd need a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Cable, I bought this on Amazon:Benfei Mini DP to HDMI 10 Feet Cable (Thunderbolt Compatible) with MacBook Air/Pro

• It depends on the port on your MacBook Air. I’m using mine for a MacBook Pro and it works fine.
