iPad Pro 2018 only works with 2nd gen pencil.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I’m not positive what the technical answer to the difference is, but the 1st Gen Pencil will only work with iPad Pros 2017 and older. This 2nd Gen is made for and works with the 3rd Gen iPad Pro, the iPad 6 and iPad Air 3. I have one of each and this is a much better design. No more awkward charging or charging accessory needed, just pop it on the iPad and go, it magnetically holds and charges quickly and efficiently.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.the second generation is wirelessly charged
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The gen 2 only works with the new gen Ipad.. Gen 2 has a flat surface on 1 side and is smaller, this provides a more natural feel and it wont roll off your desk. It magnetically attaches to the top of the iPad and charges at the same time. Also a double tap of the finger can change setting in many apps. Nice features, but perhaps not worth upgrading your Ipad if your current drawings experience is working for you. The actual drawing function is pretty much the same.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The second generation pencil is charged via a magnetic connection made by applying the pencil directly to the iPad PRO as opposed to the first first generation pencil having a lightning port connector that is plugged directly into the ipad for charging. I have read that the 1st generation pencil WILL NOT work with the newest ipad pro.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The 2nd generation pencil is shaped slightly differently than the fist in that there is a flat side which allows the pencil to magnetically attach to the square frame of the new iPad Pro. Also, the end no longer comes off (and gets easily lost) because the new pencil charges on contact similarly to the way the watch charges by magnetically attaching to the charge cord. The 1st generation pencil does not work with the 11-inch iPad Pro or the 12.9 inch iPad Pro (3rd generation). They require using the new pencil.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.2nd gen pen charges wirelessly along the right edge of the ipad pro, totally worth the money especially at discount 1st gen pen is awful, charging suck. Pretty expensive at current price tag
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.1st gen cannot work with the 2018 iPad Pros. It needs to plug in to pair and latest iPad Pros only support USB-C.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The 2nd gen only works with the 2018 version iPad Pros. It does not plug in.
