Based on limited information, my question back is obvious one of whether “pairing” pencil was completed successfully.

I had my first tip on my pencil for almost a year. I only changed it when I dropped the pencil on the tip and damaged the tip causing it not to write properly any longer, however it still worked with finesse. Once I changed the tip it worked just like it did prior to it being damaged. 
If your pencil stopped working, I would verify it is taking and holding a charge and pairing to your iPad properly. From there, I would get Apple support or go in store to determine what is wrong.

Did you pair your pencil with your iPad? You have to plug the pencil into your iPad charger port, when you do; your iPad will recognize it and apair to your iPad.
Also, stupid question, but just to clarify; you are using it with an pencil compatible iPad Pro???
