Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.you can either pull it back flush against the iPad so you can hold it like normal, or if you fold the piece back it is intended to be a stand.

Please try again later.When you open the case to use the iPad, you can fold the cover all the way around to be flush with the back of the iPad, or you can make it like the stand. The case does not rotate or anything like that. (i.e. the only way for the case to hold the iPad up is in sideways position, if you wanted it up right, the case stand feature will not work. I hope this answers your question. I do highly recommend this product as it uses the smart features of the iPad to auto lock it when you close the case and wake it up when you open it. It also leaves the space open for the Apple Pencil to be attached to the iPad as an add-on purchase.
