• It should. The box says it is compatible with Mac systems that do not have optical drives. It works fine with my 2020 MacBook Air that also came with Catalina.

• Yes, I have an iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2019) running macOS Catalina Version 10.15.4 and I'm currently using this drive, just plug and play, no installation needed.
