You don’t have to have an iPhone, it is an awesome entertainment piece all by itself, can be ran all by your voice by the virtual assistant Siri.

Please try again later.If you’re just using the Apple TV as a streamer you can use it fine and remote control it from the included remote or the android app. The Apple TV does some other things where having an iPhone is an extra convenience, but not having one leaves you no worse off than other streamers like fire stick or Roku. That said, the Apple TV does some things the others don’t that are not tv related. Bottom line is it’s a fine tv streamer regardless of whether you have other apple products or not
