Not sure what you mean by 8s, as there were only 8 and 8 Plus, but both of those used Lightning connectors, not USB-C. You need the Apple Lightning to 3.5mm adapter instead.

It’s is not. You need the lighting to 3.5mm This one is for connecting headphones to the newer iPad Pros.
