most likely you bought the usb-c to female usb that's why it doesn't fit in. Just buy a usb-c to male usb cable.
I would recommend:

Please try again later.The USB-A female port on these adapters is *very* snug when brand new, I had to spend a few minutes plugging and unplugging the devices we were using until it loosened up a bit. A plus side is the connection shouldn't get very loose to where the cables separate over time, and a lot of cheaper adapters will.
