Can you update a gamin device using this adapter? null

I have used this adapter to update by Garmin GPS. I connect this adapter to the USB-C port on my MacBook Pro (2019), then the USB cable that came with the Garmin to the USB port, then to the Garmin. Keep in mind that not all USB cables are capable of carrying data, some are charge only cables.
