Is the 5w adapter made for both an iPhone AND an iPad? null

The wattage of the adapter will only affect the speed at such your device charges. So yes a 5w adapter will charge an iPad but at a significantly slower rate.

Just checked, it works with my iPhone X, but doens't work on my iPad Pro and series 2 watch.

We use the 5 watt adapter for both iPad and iPhone with no problem.
