Do I need to buy the cellar Apple Watch series 3 to receive texts and phone calls? Or do you only need the cellar if you are using without your phone near by? Confused with what to get. Please clarify. null

If you get the cellular version then you can text and call from the watch without having your phone around. You would have to add an extra plan for the watch with your carrier though which would be an extra $10/month with the first 3 months free. The GPS version you can text and call from the watch also but it would have to be connected to the iPhone with Bluetooth or WiFi and the phone would need to be close by

If you want to leave your iPhone at home (which would be weird) you have to buy the iWatch3 +gps + cellular to keep receiving calls and notifications. But if you’re like me, if you have your iphone always near to you, you can buy the iWatch3 +gps and you will receive calls and notifications and save 70 dollars
