Can you make phone calls without a phone null

Not on the model I bought which had only GPS. It is possible to get one with both GPS & Cellular which should be able to make 911 calls if conditions are right...no "dead spots". Check with Best Buy or Apple to make sure before any purchase.

I do not have it connected to cellular but I can make phone calls as long as my phone is nearby.
