- Answer Yes. The GPS and GPS+Cellular models have the same capabilities, with the exception of needing your iPhone nearby with the GPS model. You can send a text from the GPS model, and it will relay it to your nearby iPhone. You cannot send a text message from the GPS model if you left your iPhone 16 at home, it's not nearby, etc. I have this watch in GPS only and an iPhone 16 Plus myself, I send texts all the time.
