Please try again later.an apple watch without cell service needs to be connected to your iphone or wifi to be able to connect to the internet. an apple watch with cell plan can send and receive text, imessages and calls without the need to be connected to your iphone or to wifi. all your apps (installed on the watch) can work even if you do not have your iphone. i have a cell plan on my watch. it has happened several times that i leave the house in a hurry and forget to grab my phone. no problem. i stay fully connected with my watch. i can even use apple pay with the cell connection of the watch. i can monitor and turn on my car from the watch, no phone required. i can monitor and turn on/off lights in the house with the watch, no iphone required. weather, calendar, espn notifications, etc., all apps on the watch work just as if i were connected to wifi or had my iphone with me.

Adding the GPS+Cellular option allows me to Answer my Phone and Receive Text messages on my Watch. Convenient option that lets me End a Spam call on the Watch without searching for my Phone. Some folks add their Watch to their Cellular Plan, which allows to make calls and Send Messages with the Watch. I don't like this feature because my fingers are too fat to dial digits or SMS on a 46mm Device!! Hope this helps.

You can also receive Texts but cannot send Messages without a Cell plan. That is what I do and it makes it so much easier to end a Spam call than look for my phone. Another benefit is that if u add a Cellular plan to the Watch, then u could also Send Messages and Make calls using the Watch. I did not get this feature because my fingers are too fat to text or dial digits on a 46mm device!!
