• the GPS version does not require the additional $10 as it is Blue toothed to your phone for and its data plan unless you are on wifi and thats free. The cellular is $10 a month and can be used without the phone as a standalone if you will and will use from your existing data plan

• You need the watch that has the gps + data (sprint, T-Mobile, ATT, etc.) the $10 is a monthly charg added to your bill to have the phone service on your watch.
