All it is really is joining the two no need to get a new number, once you take it to sprint they will just add it to the plan under your current number.

They assign a different number to the watch, but port that number directly to my cell phone number, so I never have to use the different number. And, their cost is only $10 per month added for the watch. I have heard that Sprint does the same, but you would have to check with them to be sure.
