The fitness portion works extremely well. It will track your heart rate and steps just like the fitbit. If you are interested in switching, I would not switch if you are only wanting the fitness portion. The apple watch only would be beneficial to switch to if you are looking to add the your using experience with added apps and text messaging. The only added fitness perk that I know of is that you can download songs onto the apple watch and connect bluetooth head phone directly to the watch enabling you to listen to music without your phone while you exercise.
