Aluminum doesn’t scratch but the stainless steel does
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The cases of your Apple watch won't scratch easy, no matter if you get the stainless steel version or the aluminum version. However, if you scratch the stainless steel casing, it would be much more noticeable than on the aluminum (see images). The only reason why I would even consider the stainless steel option for the Apple Watch would be for the sapphire glass screen, which is much stronger than the aluminum's Ion-X glass. A test done by Slashgear.com tested the glass and here were the results: "According to the video, Apple Watch Sport was unscathed by a 7-rated pick, but was scratched by an 8. The higher-end Apple Watch which used sapphire crystal was able to withstand a beating from a 9-rated pick. So, there is definitely a difference in quality contributing to the price difference between the models."
