Not really. I mean you have to try really hard. I would worry more about your wrist or hand if something hits this hard enough to scratch it. I have had Series 1 since the day it was released and it still looks new. Very durable.

Not in my experience. I had the 1st gen in black stainless. In the three years I had it, I only got one nick and I had to look hard to find it.

I have the gold SS & my cousin has the black SS. We wear our watches everyday since the day we got them and they are still both scratch-free.

They will scratch but not easy like you think, but it easy to polish and bring back to brand new state. 
I don’t know about the black stainless, will be hard to polish
