The watch will detect motions and accelerations that it associates with a fall. It will then alert you that it detected a fall and prompt you to as if you want to call emergency services (SOS) or if you're okay. If you do not respond within a set amount of time, it will automatically launch the SOS call. NOTE: You're asking about the GPS only model, which doesn't have an onboard eSIM so this functionality will only work if you have your iPhone within Bluetooth distance OR if your watch is connected to a WiFi network (and your iphone is on and has wifi calling enabled).
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have a GPS series 4 and my experience with the fall detection is that it functions as described by other answers. It does not immediately call for assistance. However, it can falsely alert (by asking if you have fallen) even when I clap my hands together vigorously (as in applauding) or striking a nail with a hammer. Otherwise it works quite well, giving more than enough time for me to indicate that there has not been a fall. Overall this watch is a phenomenal piece of technology with a very wide array of useful systems.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It gives you time to deactivate in case you did something to set it off.
