Yes, you can still receive and reply to text messages on the GPS version. I read that you only need the cellular version if you plan to make calls without having your phone with you.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.As long as you are within WiFi or Bluetooth range of your phone then you will receive messages. If you plan to go on long runs without your phone then you will need the cellular.
