“Ive never had a smart watch nor do i know much about its technology. I noticed there is an “8” series option too. What is main comparison of the 8 vs 9 series? Which series is the newest? What features or abilities does this watch have?”

The higher the number, the newer the model. If you can still get an 8, do so and save the $$$. There were only incremental updates with the 9 and major new feature was temperature sensing that is not super accurate and is not medical grade and for predicting ovulation.
