Yes they do
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.i swapped mine 4 times entirely because of internal issues. The fourth was an accident, but still worked. First pair i had, had terrible issues with the sound cancelling fading out randomly, and not turning back on till i reset it (turned it in, got a new box entirely). Second pair was having pairing strokes, where it would constantly ping my phone with the “connect new AirPods” pop up (replaced entirely). The third pair had screwed up loudness, and would actually electrocute my ear when it was in it. And the fourth, i reported rattling (replacing the buds), and when i learned a few months later, it was my earrings tapping the neck. So it is very much possible, even without any protection plans aside from apples basic version.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I’m not sure of the exact policy but I do know that when one of mine did not work correctly (the sound wasn’t working one just one), they replaced it for me. Easiest way to get exact cost is via the Apple Support app. https://apps.apple.com/us/app/apple-support/id1130498044
