Apple replaced them for free that day after confirming that it was in fact broken. Took less than an hour total and most of that was just them using their test machine and signing some paperwork stuff. If there's a charge its only for accidental damage and it is (at least in the US) $29 + applicable tax. If you mail it to them, they provide and pay for all shipping.
