• The range of the camera depends on many factors . The only way to truly know is mount the camera and look at the app and see if it connects . To record the camera must be “armed” mode, of not armed the camera will NOT record . Honestly the range is not great , maybe put the ARLO BASE unit in the front of your home closer to the camera .

• You will not want to as the batteries will drain rapidly. I am assuming by lane you mean road. Yeah the batteries draw a lot of energy when the motion activation but more so when watching the live feed.
