The motions remain on for 10 seconds and then depending on the level of plan you purchase it can go as little as 7 days (up to 1GB) for free Or you can purchase up to 60 days (100GB) for 14.99/month. As long as you have the cameras on a schedule to record you watching T.V, the free option is just fine. It also depends on the quality of picture you have it set to.
