• This modem/router is only good if you are a Comcast subscriber only. You have to have Comcast as your ISP to use this item.

• What are you trying to do with it? If you are trying to get online, yes, you need an internet provider. If you are just trying to get 2-4 ps4 networked, then no. But this router is really set up for Comcast.
