YES.YOU WILL ALSO NEED A WIRELESS ROUTER. I AM NOT SURE IF IT IS A APPROVED MODEM FOR MEDIA COM, IT DOES WORK WITH COMCAST. GO TO MEDIA COM'S WEBSITE AND CHECK FOR APPROVED MODEMS.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This will NOT have any WIFI functions built in. To use this modem with WIFI you must purchase a WiFi router. If you want an all in one solution, you need to get something like Motorola SBG6580, or the Netgear C3700-100NAS. There are other options on the site, but those are just 2 of the examples.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No this is a modem only, so if you want wifi you either need a separate router or get a modem/router combo of course allowing your service provider has it approved, I'm not sure if it works with your service provider but if it does, just call them and they'll help set it up, keep the box
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You'd need a wireless router in order to produce a Wifi signal; you'd have to hook it up with an Eathernet cable, which should've come with the modem, but there usually bundled with routers as well.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.No. This device is strictly a cable modem. This one is a little more expensive than the other models because it supports higher speeds than is what is available on the market. When providers upgrade their services, this device should be able compatible and ready to go. You will need to call your cable provider to register this device with their network so you can use your own cable modem. It's easy and painless, and usually knocks off somewhere in between 7-10$ off your monthly bill. The cable modem has one power port, one cable port, and one network (ethernet) port. You can connect a device to such as a computer, an console (XBOX/PS4), laptop directly to the network port. If you need to connect more than one device you will need to purchase a (wireless) router. I suggest a simple 4-port, Wireless Router. I'm partial to NetGear, and even Cisco/LinkSys. They are quite user friendly and easy to setup. To set up you connect this cable modem to wall, connect the wireless router into the cable modem (usually yellow port/cable from router goes into cable modem), and then power up devices one at a time. At this point you would have a functional network, but would be best if you follow instructions for how to secure it from unwanted use. I've included examples of devices which could be used (I've owned/purchased all of them but presently use the Nighthawk R7000). MOST ANY WIFI ROUTER you purchase these days will be as simple to get started.
I would recommend:
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The modem will only take the cable signal and allow internet access via one wired connection. You would want to connect this to a router to allow access via WiFi/built-in ethernet ports. You should contact Media Com to activate the modem on their network AFTER you verify with them that this is a compatible device.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.unfortunately, you'll have to buy a wireless router to go with it if you just bought the 6183. I do not recommend buying the combo modem/wireless router that arris puts out as the updates that cable companies tend to brick them completely due to the fact that they are two separate products in one body. however, the 6183 works great if you want internet connections to be stable. make sure that you have it activated properly by your internet ISP or it won't work right, I can promise you that. I recommend the netgear nighthawk x6 for a wireless router

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have a router with this modem , Belkin is the brand it allows for guest and homeowner to separate connection allowing for smoother streaming .
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This product is not wireless. However, you may look for one that is equivalent but also says Router.....Cable/Router.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.First question no it doesn't have WIFI built in you will need to add a wireless router for that. Second you will need to check with Media com for compatibility they might even have a website for compatible modems.
