“Can I install Linux on this laptop or does ASUS lock down the UEFI BIOS to force you to keep Windows? I had a new ASUS Vivobook Flip 12 that ASUS did this to without telling anyone until it was too late and you already bought the laptop.”

I have bought this laptop and successfully installed Ubuntu on it, it works great and I would definitely recommend this laptop for linux use
