You can hook up an external DVD drive that is designed for a computer and has a USB output. It would be best to get one with USB-C to avoid the need for an adapter. You can easily find these in the $30ish range. You cannot use a DVD player that is designed to connect to a TV with e.g. an HDMI cable. (Sometimes those DVD players also have a USB port, but that is for input only. It has to be a DVD drive designed for computers).
