• Yes, it will work with the hard drive (you may need to reformat). This is a bad choice if you don't have an Internet connection, ChromeOS is a light OS because it does most things through an Internet browser.

• It will work with a 2TB external HD, but by definition a Chromebook is a laptop to work on the cloud. I will not recommend it if you are planning to use with no internet service.
