“I am thinking of buying this laptop. but I much prefer the 14'' screen size... however, that means sacraficing 12gb of ram for the standard 8gb. I have read that you can in fact upgrade the RAM in the 15'' model from 12 to 16gb, can the 14'' go from 8-12?”

The 14" version of this laptop is the "ASUS - 2-in-1 14" Touch-Screen Laptop - Intel Core i5 - 8GB Memory - 1TB Hard Drive - Sandblasted aluminum silver with chrome hinge Model: Q405UA-BI5T5SKU: 6077500." Unfortunately, the 8GB on board has been soldered on the mainboard. You can upgrade the HDD to an SSD. Check the following website: http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/compatible-upgrade-for/ASUS/q405ua but don't always believe everything on the Internet because Crucial told me that the Asus Q505UA could only be upgraded with an HDD replacement SATA III SSD. In fact, it has an M.2 2280 SATA III Socket and a Crucial 256GB SSD-on-a-Chip, boots and works great.
