QuestionCan I add a m2 ssd to this laptop ? in addition to the 1TB HDD.

- Answer YES, you absolutely can add an M.2 SSD to this. When you unscrew the bottom and removed it, there is a clearly marked spot for a 2280mm M.2 SSD and it works very well. I purchased this laptop from BB for my wife's birthday and added m.2 and 2.5in SSD and she is very pleased. Please note that removing the bottom and adding anything immediately voids your warranty. I am not concerned with this since I work in IT and am extremely confident in my tech skills.

- Answer It's an 8th gen i5 Kaby Lake Refresh processor (quad core, eight threads). Supposedly they're 80-100% faster than 7th gens.

- Answer Why would you buy a 2 in 1 without touch screen? I replaced the 4gb memory with an 8gb memory, to get a total of 16gb.

Questiondoes it take movies and pictures and how good is the resolution? Does it have a flash and is the camera reversible?

- Answer It does not have a rear facing camera so any and all pictures must be taken facing the screen. I do not know if it takes video and I do not know the resolution of the camera. However camera specs should be in detailed product description. I believe the main purpose of the camera is video chatting not professional photography. The laptops screen resolution though is a clear 1080p.

- Answer Actually, keyboard is backlit and web site is incorrect. But backlight was inoperative initially after moving OS from HDD to Geek-squad installed SSD. They did fix it. Took a little time.

QuestionI just got this laptop, and am in the process of setting it up. I am 15 minutes in, and the bottom if the laptop is hot on my lap. Has anyone else had this problem? I'm wondering if this is a lemon.

- Answer I would guess that you have the computer plugged into power (not using battery). It is normal for a computer battery to get hot while charging. Normally after the battery is close to fully charged, it will trickle charge to keep the battery charged and not get so hot. It is a good idea to run the battery down at least once a month. I do not keep my computer(s) plugged into power all the time. If you find that after charging you don't have much battery life, then you may have an issue. I hope this helps......

- Answer The product description says it has an SD card reader. I don't understand why ASUS replied that it did not. I don't have the laptop so I can't tell you for sure. There may be a difference between the 14 inch and the 15.6 inch laptop. However, I can't imagine why any laptop unless it was a really cheap one would not have an SD card reader.

QuestionI am thinking of buying this laptop. but I much prefer the 14'' screen size... however, that means sacraficing 12gb of ram for the standard 8gb. I have read that you can in fact upgrade the RAM in the 15'' model from 12 to 16gb, can the 14'' go from 8-12?

The 14" version of this laptop is the "ASUS - 2-in-1 14" Touch-Screen Laptop - Intel Core i5 - 8GB Memory - 1TB Hard Drive - Sandblasted aluminum silver with chrome hinge Model: Q405UA-BI5T5SKU: 6077500." Unfortunately, the 8GB on board has been soldered on the mainboard. You can upgrade the HDD to an SSD. Check the following website: http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/compatible-upgrade-for/ASUS/q405ua but don't always believe everything on the Internet because Crucial told me that the Asus Q505UA could only be upgraded with an HDD replacement SATA III SSD. In fact, it has an M.2 2280 SATA III Socket and a Crucial 256GB SSD-on-a-Chip, boots and works great.

- Answer I just did it. It works and boot-up is extremely fast. BUT, transfer lost the driver for lighted keyboard. Geek squad fixed it. I am very glad that I got GEEK squad to install the SSD and move the OS for me. Worth it, especially since net cost was actually only a few $ after credit for 1yr of MSFT office.
