You should be able to. You may need to adjust the display settings on your laptop. I know someone who uses an HP laptop with a monitor and uses both screens but to use one or two monitors with my Toshiba laptop I have to close the lid or the monitor display looks blown up and unusable. This monitor has 1 HDMI port and 1 VGA. Most laptops have an HDMI port but check to see what your laptop has first before you buy an HDMI cable. Search for "HDMI cable picture" online to see what it looks like so you will know what you are looking for.
