Q: QuestionWhat about phone, Can I hook up my phone service with this router?
Asked by srwwm.
- A:Answer You have to have a telephony modem to use phone service. The phone line plugs into the modem, not this Google system. This mesh system is simply a wifi router, it isn't a router/modem combo.

Q: QuestionHow many MBPS does it get
Asked by Kendog.
- A:Answer Your overall speed is going to depend on what your internet provider gives you, your modem, the router, and the medium used to transfer the data. Just ran a test on my computer and my download speed is about 30Mbps and my upload is about 6Mbps, and right now I have a 1080p video being streamed right now while someone is also playing games on Xbox live in the other room.

Q: QuestionHi. I would like to know if this is the Dual-Band ADSL/VDSL Gigabit Wi-Fi Modem Router (see link https://www.asus.com/Networking/DSL-AC88U/overview/ ) or the Asus AC3100 Dual-Band Wi-Fi Gigabit Router (https://www.asus.com/Networking/RT-AC88U/)
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer The Modem router is out, if your provider supplies/restricts modems. Both routers are very powerful and allow you to access the "backdoor settings)but the RT is open sourced, meaning it is more versatile (vpn's and other software applications can be installed).Go for this one if you already have a modem. You cant have two so the latter would be the choice.Top notch router,IF you need it.

Q: QuestionDoes this work with AT&T Uverse? I have a Pace 5268 AC.
Asked by Booboojones.
- A:Answer I use it with U-verse, but not to replace the modem. I use it as an additional access point and so far it's been rock-solid.

Q: QuestionHow many wireless devices can be connected at the same time?
Asked by Hello.
- A:Answer The device should support more devices than you would ever actually have connected at once and it supports many modes/frequencies for wifi so even legacy devices should be supported by it. That said, my experience with the wifi on this model has been terrible.

Q: QuestionI purchased this router... The "USB 3.0" port is fake (blue colored USB 2.0) and both USB ports crash the router with large drives. Max file transfer speed is 1.5MB/s. Asus customer service says this is "normal". Are others having these problems?
Asked by Phil.
- A:Answer The 3.0 usb port dies not work on mine. I have a terabyte drive plugged in the other usb port which works fine

Q: QuestionIs the dsl modem built in on ASUS RT-AC88U routerI'm on Centurylink DSL. I need a router with much more range than my Netgear. I'm considering an ASUS RT-AC88U. But I can't find any information if the modem is included for DSL like my Netgear.
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer The Asus RT-AC88U does not have a built in modem. But it is a great router overall with lots of features. You could always turn your current modem into a bridge and just use a new router. At CES this year Asus did announce that they will be coming out with a model that has a built in cable modem. I think the model will be called CM-32 AC2600 but then again that is just for people with cable.

Q: QuestionAsus AC 3100 Black vs AC3100 88UWhats the difference between the two? besides the color of the antenas? I've read the 88U was designed for gamers and has 1024-QAM technology... would the 3100 black also match the hardware? or as a gamer, should I buy the 88U. Thanks
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer The biggest difference is that the 88U has an 8 port switch in it and supposedly some kind of additional gaming optimizer - not sure what though as the 3100 also has gaming quality of service features. Honestly those are mostly marketing fluff anyway - your latency is going to come once the traffic hits the internet, not on your internal network, unless you are truly bottlenecked by your home internet connection speeds and need to prioritize gaming traffic over streaming video and such. The radios and processors are identical between the two. Personally the extra ports and added cost just aren't for me - and this thing is already big enough and unique enough looking without red highlights on the antennas.
