“Has anyone successfully removed the motherboard and placed in a different case? I've looked at the manual and have removed all 8 screws from the motherboard but the case is still firmly attached. It isn't the headers and I can't find a screw anywhere.”

Have you taken off the metal side panel and looked for remaining threads (hidden screws) there are either some you've missed or possibly some plastic snaps holding it on.
